Dear Family

Since the tragic events of Friday, we initially dealt with whether it was advisable to continue with planned Sabbath programs. Following that, our focus quickly changed to supporting the Muslim and wider community.  Through the guidance of ADRA we’re engaged with INFoRM, a Christchurch group of government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and organisations working with and for migrants and refugees. We’re sorting through initiatives in consultation with those affected in order to be able to help in a relevant way. I encourage the Body of Christ to work together at this time. For now, we can confirm Global Youth day will go ahead on March 30th at 2pm. Please plan to join our young people for this event. There will be further correspondence in due course. Whilst these are difficult days for us, its highly evident that God is with us. The fact that we belong to a worldwide Church is a blessing. The support shown is notable and appreciated. Finally, I ask that we each continue to be Christlike in all we do. I pray we note the words of Jesus regarding the judgement.  34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ (Matthew 25:34-36 ESV)
